Travel through the Earth

Many similar ways (and mishaps of life) were faced by nations (believers and disbelievers) that have passed away before you (as you have faced in the battle of Uhud), so travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those who disbelieved (in the Oneness of Allâh, and disobeyed Him and His Messengers). Sick Day

What do homeschoolers do when they get sick?  Well, when I am not feeling up to sticking to the usual routine, the children and I enjoy listening to audio lectures.  With this learning mode, no one has to extend too much energy and it allows our bodies to get some needed rest in order to recover.
The [...]

Tell Me About Hajj

It is time again for the Hajj.  The Hajj is an annual pilgrimage that Muslims make to Makkah in order to complete the obligation of the fifth pillar of Islam.  Some of the projects that the children and I have completed together in earlier years pertaining to the Hajj included minibooks on Hajj, reading about Hajj(Tell Me About Hajj), Hajj reenactments, [...]

“Everyone Shall Taste Death”

Aali Imran – 3:185

Everyone shall taste death. And only on the Day of Resurrection shall you be paid your wages in full. And whoever is removed away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise, he indeed is successful. The life of this world is only the enjoyment of deception (a deceiving thing). (Aali Imran 3:185)
Recently, death has been [...]

Quick Update

Recently, homeschooling has been going pretty smoothly here, alhamdulillah.  My husband and I have been allotting time to help each one of our children with their individual needs during the week as well as on the weekends if need be.  I truly do appreciate his help with their tutoring, masha Allah.

Covered with Art

Happy to be free from the crayon munching and glue eating toddlers, my two eldest girls thoroughly enjoyed themselves learning about the ancient form of bookmaking and creating books of their own at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, alhamdulillah.
The art instructor began the program by briefly discussing the history of making books that included the type [...]

Eid Reflections

Well, Ramadan has come to an end and Eid has been celebrated, masha Allah.  The day of Eid was a wonderful day spent with family and visiting with friends.  The children ate candy, played games, and made happy memories. The highlight of my day was reconnecting with a Muslim sister whom I hadn’t seen or spoken with [...]

Not only is this a great resource for nonMuslims who want to understand Islam,  it is also a great source for earth science as well as other science references.
“This Islamic guide is for non-Muslims who would like to understand Islam, Muslims (Moslems), and the Holy Quran (Koran).  It is rich in information, references, bibliography, [...]

Looking for a Ramadan/Eid gift?

Several years ago, we purchased Activity Masjid CD Rom for the children.  It is a fun way for them to learn about Islam.   The CD Rom includes Qur’an, Du’a, Arabic, books, and games.  NO Music, NO Faces
There are also some free Islamic children’s games on the site, masha Allah.

Our Ramadan Schedule

So far, we are just over one third of the way through Ramadan and everything has been going well with the schedule, alhamdulillah.  We have been trying to keep busy during the day to take our minds off the fast by doing some work (math, English, Islamic Studies, and Qur’an) in the morning and resting [...]
