Islamic Terminology

Ayat- Verse from the holy Qu’ran

Alhamdulillah- All praise be to Allah

Allahu Akbar- Allah is the Greatest

Allahu Alim- Allah knows best

As salaam alaikum- Peace be upon you

Eid- the Islamic festivals (there are 2 of these)

Insha Allah- If Allah wills

Jum’uah- Friday (the Islamic day of worship)

Masha Allah- Whatever Allah wishes

Masjid- Mosque (Islamic house of worship)

Qur’an- Book of Allah

Subhannallah- Glory be to Allah

Sunnah- Traditions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)

Surah- Chapter in the Holy Qu’ran

    Alhamdulillah, as a Muslim, I know all of these, but it is probably very helpful for those who don’t. (guess that’s obvious from the previous comment, smile).
