We Survived Sandy

Alhamdulillah, Allah spared us from the storm of the century.  Richmond escaped from the storm mostly unharmed.  Please make du’a for our fellow Muslim homeschooling families in the Northeast (New Jersey, New York, etc.) as those areas were struck hard.  Many have not been able to return to their homes after the mandatory evacuation.

The anticipation of the storm was very stressful, but I am very grateful that we had the opportunity to prepare for such an event.  It turned out to be a great learning opportunity for the children as well as my husband and I.

Moving right along, we attended the sisters’ halaqa today.  I have worked it out so Hannah and Jamilah listen to the half of the halaqa while I help the  little ones with their homeschooling and then we switch.  Today we added some community service into our visit by cleaning some of the masjid.  Insha Allah, I plan to continue this schedule biweekly.  I think they will also earn a Girl Scout badge or for their community service at the masjid.  I am always trying to take advantage of all our opportunities.
