More Community Service

So, I am really starting to like these community service experiences. Yesterday, Yahya was scheduled to assist in construction of the Secret Garden at the Main Library downtown and I ended up having to bring Hawwa and Siddiqah along as they were already in the car coming back from a dentist appointment. It worked out very well as they were allowed to volunteer along with Yahya. He worked on the construction of a raised flower bed while the girls painted craft sticks and flower pots along with making seed bombs. We all absolutely loved it and hope to volunteer there again next month.

I don’t tend to visit that particular library too often as it isn’t very close, but I do follow them on facebook and have noticed that their library programs seem to interest me greatly. Well, last night one of the librarians approached another sister and I and mentioned that they had recently received a grant for Islamic materials and were also inviting Islamic speakers for diversity discussions.  She seems very excited about the possibilities and even asked us if we knew of any potential speakers.  This made me feel very happy as well as welcomed.

  4. Assalaamu alaikum wa rahmatullah my dear sister. Great to catch up with everything you have been up to; not sure why but I don’t get the feeds anymore! Anyway, it’s cool that your library is hosting the discussions, they sound really interesting. Community service is fantastic for both adults and children; it’s good for the soul. Salaams sis xXX

    • Wa alaikum as salaam ummadam,

So good to hear from you. Are you still blogging? Since I changed my email address, I haven’t received updates. Would be interested in signing up with my new address.

  5. No problems sis, I haven’t blogged for a while as I’m still trying to make the flexi-schooling work for us and I’ve had quite a battle getting Sprite some specialist teaching for his dyslexia; but am intending to get back into it inshaAllah. Wassalaam xXx
