Week of Rest

After returning from seemed like a day trip to California on Monday, I was really glad to have scheduled a break for this past week. For some reason I don’t think I experienced jet lag this time and actually have returned with a sense of peace and tranquillity which I haven’t felt in years.

We did attend a not back to school picnic on Tuesday and I was really excited to see a handful of sisters there with their families. Their children are younger than my oldest girls and are mostly little boys, so I don’t really see much more socialization happening between us. It was still great to know that I am not the only one though.

Speech therapy also started back up this week and I am happy to say that the girls have improved tremendously to the point where we may not be attending the full year. It is bittersweet though as we will miss the speech therapist and she will miss the girls.

We were scheduled to begin the community service at the farm this week, but after googling the farm’s location, I realized it was a bit farther than I had planned to travel. So it will have to wait until next month, insha allah.

The girls and I are anxious for Girl Scouts to begin this evening. We have planned a ceremony for those moving up to the next level and a fun game. It will be nice to get back into the swing of the Girl Scout routine as well.  They are offering several community programs that seem worthwhile this year. I am making du’a that they work out for us.

Finally, we have planned our first camping trip for tomorrow night which includes me! The trip is currently  pending though so again I am making du’a.

    Assalamo alaikum,

    Alhamdulillah you are back safely.
InshaAllah the camping trip goes well, we haven’t been brave enough to try it yet!

    • Wa alaikum as salaam,
Well, I was a bit surprised that you have to keep the children so quiet especially at night because sounds travels further at night. Our camping neighbor came over and asked if I could keep their noise down as Isa was crying. She clearly didn’t have children!
