So last week, the girls were off all week and then Monday of this week as well for a school holiday. They went back to school Tuesday and then it snowed again. I doubt they will go back to school tomorrow (Friday) either. Yahya hasn’t missed as much school because parents drive their children to school and there are no school buses so I guess that means less liability.
Before the snow holiday this week, I was able to meet with Jennah’s teacher. Since, she had only been there for a couple of weeks, I wasn’t really able to get much insight into her transition and progress. I do need to keep pushing for the school to start her receiving reading intervention though.
While I was there, I dropped off her Greek architecure project so she didn’t have to take it to school on the bus. My husband had taken her downtown several weekends ago to observe and take pictures of the architecture around Virginia Commonwealth University’s campus. Great learning experience.
The Greek and Roman festival was rescheduled from last week to tomorrow due to the snow. I have offered to volunteer to help out for an hour or so and even made babysitting arrangements for Isa. It is doubtful that they will have school tomorrow though.
Due to so many days missed and the fact that the timing was right around the end of first semester/the beginning of second semester, the older girls’ exams were canceled. The exams were made optional to the high schoolers but not the middle schoolers.
We all ended up with a cold at the end of last week. I still don’t have the energy to do much at all. The girls did talk me into taking them to the library one day last week but other than that I still spending most of the day resting while they tear up the house. It is much better for them to be in school now. Everyone is much happier when we are on a regular schedule and keeping busy.
