The snow melted so everyone went back to school on delayed opening last Friday. This week was a full week with lots of projects assigned for this month. Hannah and Jamilah have been assigned a major project in science. They have to build a 3 D model of a house run on renewable energy and write a building plan/research paper to accompany it. They have started their research but still have a long way to go. We don’t have much time to work on this during the week due to other homework and studying for tests and quizzes, so it will have to wait until the weekends.
Yahya also has a project and a research paper due in science this week. He gets to team up with another classmate to build a volcano. Actually, we dropped him off yesterday at the masjid in order to spend the night with the brother who is his partner. Hopefully that will all be taken care of by today.
The brother’s father also begged my husband to allow Yahya to join their indoor soccer team as two of the players are injured and they hadn’t won a game yet. Alhamdulillah, they did win the last game 7-2 with Yahya’s help. I am hoping this will ignite an interest in soccer instead of football. Fat chance, I know.
On a seperate note, I decided to start taking Isa to storytime at the library this week. I was interested in getting him around other children and possibly finding a social outlet for myself. Maashaa allah, we met another Muslim family with a 7 month old and a 2 yr. Old. We hit it off so well that we continued to meet for storytime and also for a halaqa last week. Meeting the sister and her family was definitely a huge highlight of my week. I was getting pretty lonely here.
The best part of my week was spending the day with my husband and Isa on Friday. My husband took off work for the day to go shopping with me and take me out to lunch. Alhamdulillah, fun times!
