Jamilah’s Art and Summer Reading

Jamilah brought home her art portfolio yesterday. I finally got to see more of the projects that she has been working on this year, maashaa allah. These were a few of my favorites.

Today, I am hoping to make it to the library in search of some of the summer reading titles for Yahya. He is anxious to get started on those as well as the written assignments which accompany them before his summer school course begins in a few weeks. The titles he has to choose two from include October Sky by Homer Hickman, Cold Sassy Tree by Olive Ann Burns, Panther in the Basement by Amos Oz, and The.Red Scarf by Ji-li Jiang. He will probably read them all though.

The written assignments include a reading log for one book, a dialectical journal for one book, and a five paragraph essay on a theme of one of the books.
He is taking initiative and attempting to get it out of the way which makes me happy!
