On the Upswing

Alhamdulillah, I am happy to report Hashem has been feeling much better. His lungs have cleared up and he seems to be healing. I am just so anxious for him as he is so fragile though. May Allah protect him.

This week was full of activities for everyone. My parents returned from a month long trip to Mexico and came by midweek to spend some time with the children.  Isa and I met up with a sister and her two children and explored an animal farm, Maymont Park. Hannah and Jamilah prepared food for Arts Night at their school. They made fried plantains and a fruit salad.

Yahya completed his last hands – on dental scholars workshop where he made some impressions. Next session is the closing session. Overall, he enjoyed it and I hope he considers this field as a career.

Yesterday, the girls and I met up with the other Muslim family for Girl Scouts. The little ones completed a braille activity while the older girls just hung out. In the afternoon, Jamilah volunteered her time at the library testing a game called Artemis. This is a multi player battleship game that the library is considering loading on their computers.

The schedule for some of the summer classes and activities are now available, so I have been busy looking a dates. We will have to narrow down and cut out some things as many activities conflict with each other. We can’t do everything.

Assalamo alaikum, glad to hear that Hashem is on the mend Alhamdulillah.
I’m in awe of the opportunities that school seems to offer there, is that just your particular school, or is that something typical?

    • Wa alaikum as salaam,
Alhamdulillah, I am still watching him like a hawk.

I had to look back at what I posted because I forgot! Age+baby brain=losing memory. The dental scholars program is at our local dental school within the medical school. It part of a pipeline program that introduces middle and high school students to the medical profession as well as encourages disadvantaged youth to look into that profession. The programs are open to students in our area to apply with a limited number of spots.

All the schools in our county offer after school events and opportunities from time to time. Lots of fun and learning for the children, Alhamdulillah.
