Spring Activities

There has been lots going on this spring. During the week, I have been spending too much time at the pediatrician’s office for the children’s check ups, allergies, and Hashem’s restrictive airways. They don’t yet want to diagnose asthma but the allergies have triggered the breathing issues for him this time.

For the last two weeks, we have been blessed to spend some family time together. Last weekend, we attended an Explore the Outdoors fair. Despite the rain, it was very enjoyable.

This weekend it is raining again but thankfully all the festivities were inside. The first event was a Healthy Kids ‘ Day at the Y. That was high energy and we all had a ball.

Later that day, we attended an open house at the Visual Arts Center. Lots of free children’s activities, free art supplies, free food, and free exhibits.

They were also advertising their summer art classes. I have been busy lining up everyone’s camps, classes, and schedules for this summer. I’ve been working on this for months now and it is yet to be finalized.

The children are in the homestretch as far as school goes. The girls have been testing for the last several weeks. I have heard about their progress from last semester and overall I am pleased. Jennah was the most improved in her class and also had the highest score. I am in awe of her academic progress since last year. She has come a long way.

On another note, I run into Yahya’s biology teacher when dropping him off at school from time to time. I always look forward to our occasional, impromptu meet ups as she is such an inspiration to me. She is 67 years old and is still teaching high school and coaching cross country. Anyway, his class is scheduled to go on a canoeing field trip and I was curious as to where they were going. It turns out that they are going to one of our favorite spots!  She also mentioned how much he had matured over the year, maashaa allah. It is always nice to hear that.

Recently,  Yahya and his fellow cadets were inspected by the actual Marine Corps. They were questioned and did drill. He said everyone passed inspection which hopefully means more money for field trips and other fun things.

Hoping to get some exercise today and continue on with the summer planning, Insha allah..

  1. Assalamualaykum, lots of progress and stuff going on as ever, maashAllah. It’s great that there is so much still available for older kids to take part in.
