The children ended the school year on a strong note and I am very happy with their progression and performance. Everyone made the honor roll for the final quarter in addition to passing all their SOL assessments.
We are particularly happy with Jennah’s improvement since last year. She was very proud of the awards she received at the awards’ ceremony.
The first week of summer has already come and gone with lot of activities. Yahya participated in the JROTC leadership camp where he explored the police training academy and the fire training academy. He is very interested in both fields and will be looking at them as careers.
Hannah and Jamilah began classes across town at one of the high schools that have technical centers. Hannah is taking Criminal Justice and Jamilah is taking Early Childhood Education. Jamilah spends much of the class at a preschool across the street as a student teacher helping in the classroom and on field trips. They are fasting during this class which makes things very challenging. May Allah make it easy for them.
The younger girls and Isa finished a week long tennis session and enjoyed several afternoons at the sprayground.
This weekend we spent some family time at the fine arts museum attending a Celebration of African and African American Arts event. It was so much fun. We even met some African Muslims who were in America for the first time. The sister was from Ghana and was very interested in learning how American Muslims spend Ramadan. My husband invited the brother to our house for iftar. Insha allah, that would be a nice experience for them.
Ramadan Mubarak to everyone.
