Signs of Progress

As salaam alaikum dear sisters,

I’m back! Alhamdulillah, I have a new phone now and can actually blog from here.  I am overjoyed. So, I hope to get back into the swing of things after a much needed break.

Also, I am recovering from an intense illness of 8 days, alhamdulillah.  I am just grateful that my husband was home and basically picked up where I left off with the children’s assignments. This really gave me a much needed break from everything.  I truly feel like the illness purified me physically and spiritually.

During my bed rest, Hawwa has learned to read and Jennah continued to progress.  I really see the benefit in being patient and alwaying Jennah to progess at her own pace.  I am also noticing that math has gotten easier for her.  Turning 8 has really made a world of difference.

As for Hannah and Jamilah, they have been doing a lot of reading over the break.  Jamilah has turned into a bookworm despite Hannah’s protests.  She would rather spend time with her sister doing things like baking, knitting, and playing games.

On the boy front, Yahya spent much of the break with relatives, but he can back to work on an environmental project.  This is the annual “Green Aid” project.  Remember last year he built the compost pile. This year he is mixing things up with raking leaves, cleaning the local park, properly disposing of hazardous paint, etc.  I just love the increase in community service the school has done this year.
Here is one of his science projects on display at his school. The smaller one on the right.

Isa has also been creating his own projects.  He is into real things like cooking, woodworking, and cleaning.

So today is my last day of a break before I will be on my own again. I am a little concerned about keeping Isa occupied once again while I work with the girls. Keeping in mind I need to take it easy and just do a little at a time.
